Ted's Montana Gril Announces Athens Opening Date

Ted’s Montana Grill, the classic American grill committed to premium, timeless dishes with bold flavors and fresh, authentic ingredients, will open Monday, Aug. 24 at 11 a.m. at Beechwood – 196 Alps Road. The new restaurant marks Ted’s first location in Athens, its 12th in Georgia and 37th companywide.  

Ted's Montana Grill was founded in 2002 by the late Ted Turner and legendary restaurateur, George McKerrow, who also founded LongHorn Steakhouse. Their mission was to bring bison back to America's table and create a restaurant rooted in quality, honesty and authenticity. McKerrow also opened the original LongHorn Steakhouse in Athens more than 30 years ago, making the new opening especially meaningful.

The 4,242-square-foot restaurant features a design inspired by the Great American West, evoking the spirit of a 19th-century Western saloon. Guests will enjoy a spacious outdoor patio, a sophisticated bar, rich mahogany booths, leather seating, mosaic tile floors, warm lighting and Western-inspired artwork throughout the space.

At Ted’s, “fresh” takes on a new meaning. Every meal is made to order with no microwaves or freezers; even the award-winning fries start as whole potatoes. Ranch-raised American bison is the centerpiece of the menu, featured in signature dishes like award-winning burgers, hand-cut, aged steaks, braised short ribs, meatloaf, and more. Ted’s also serves Certified Angus Beef® steaks, Springer Mountain Farms chicken, fresh seafood, made-to-order salads, house-made desserts, as well as a gluten-free menu and a wholesome kids’ menu. The bar features craft cocktails, bourbons, premium wines, and local drafts from Creature Comforts Brewing and Terrapin Beer Co. 

The new Athens location will be led by Proprietor Terence Holton, a seasoned and successful restaurateur with a passion for hospitality. Holton is currently building the opening team and seeking passionate bartenders, servers, kitchen team members, and server assistants to join the Ted’s Montana Grill Athens family.
