In collaboration with the Winterville Arts Council the festival board is excited to showcase the talents of Mary Ann Cox, 2024 Festival Featured Artist, Mary Ann set off to be an artist early on after her grandmother bought her a set of pastels. She spent every free moment of her childhood in art lessons and went to Georgia Southern as a fine arts major but then changed her focus to special education. She continued to paint, study art, and win awards in exhibits, however her art career took a back seat to teaching special education and then elementary art. Mary Ann has been painting full time since retiring in 2008 from her home studio. She is a member of the Atlanta Portrait Society, the American Pastel Society, and master pastelist member of the Southeastern Pastel Society. To celebrate Mary Ann and all artists who participated in the call for art an opening reception will be held Saturday April 20th, 11:00 am at the Winterville Library. This event is free and open to the public. Make sure to stop by Mary Ann’s tent on festival day as well.
