Ted's Montana Grill Expands to Bulldog Nation in Summer 2026, Now Hiring Proprietor
Ted’s Montana Grill, the classic American restaurant known for made-from-scratch, elevated comfort food and award-winning burgers, will open in Athens, GA this summer at Beechwood Shopping Center. The restaurant is now hiring a passionate proprietor/general manager to bring authentic American dining and genuine hospitality to the Athens community.
Founded in 2002 by media mogul Ted Turner and award-winning restaurateur George McKerrow – who also founded LongHorn Steakhouse – Ted’s Montana Grill reintroduced bison to America’s table and created a restaurant rooted in simplicity, honesty, and authenticity. Guests can expect classic American dishes with bison as the cornerstone of the menu.
“Athens holds a special place in my heart, as well as the hearts of many of our team members who are proud alumni of UGA,” said George McKerrow, CEO and Co-founder of Ted’s Montana Grill. “Over 35 years ago, I opened LongHorn Steakhouse in Athens, and the relationships and memories I built with this community have stayed with me ever since. Athens has an unmatched spirit of support and connection, making it a natural home for Ted’s."
The new restaurant will be Ted’s first in Athens and twelfth in Georgia. The 4,242-square-foot space will offer 168 seats, including a spacious outdoor patio. The design remains true to Ted’s signature 19th-century Western saloon aesthetic, featuring rich mahogany booths, comfortable leather seating, and mosaic tile floors. Warm lighting, Western-inspired artwork, and a sophisticated, crafted wood bar create an atmosphere that is both timeless and welcoming.

Ted’s Montana Grill in Athens will be open for lunch and dinner. The menu features ranch-raised American bison, Certified Angus Beef®, Georgia-based Springer Mountain Farms chicken, award-winning burgers, hand-cut aged steaks from its on-premise butcher shop, fresh seafood, made-to-order salads, and delicious desserts. Guests can also enjoy hand-crafted cocktails, a selection of bourbons, local beers, premium wines, old-fashioned shakes and malts, hand-squeezed lemonade, and Boylan® sodas. Ted’s offers a full gluten-free menu and a healthy kids’ menu as well.
