St. Mary’s Inpatient Rehabilitation Center awarded on Newsweek’s list of America’s Best Physical Rehabilitation Centers 2025
Athens, Ga. – St. Mary’s Inpatient Rehabilitation Center has been awarded on Newsweek’s list of America’s Best Physical Rehabilitation Centers 2025. This award is presented by Newsweek and Statista Inc., the leading statistics portal and industry ranking provider. The award list can be viewed on Newsweek’s website. The America’s Best Physical Rehabilitation Centers 2025 ranking awards the leading physical rehabilitation facilities in the U.S. The 25 states with the most facilities according to the CMS were ranked individually. The facilities from the remaining states were grouped into 4 regions: Northeast, Midwest, West, and South. The list is based on four data pillars:
- Quality Metric: Data for IRFs published by the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)
 - National Online Survey: An online survey among experts with knowledge of physical rehabilitation centers (physicians, physiotherapists, doctors, clinic managers, and other health care professionals) was conducted in cooperation with Newsweek.
 - Accreditation: Data on physical rehabilitation centers provided by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and the Model Systems Knowledge Translation Center (MSKTC).
 - Google Reviews: Reviews from Google were included as a proxy for patient satisfaction.

St. Mary’s CARF-accredited Inpatient Rehabilitation Center provides 24/7 physician-led nursing care with intensive daily physical, occupational and speech-language therapy. Founded as our region’s first inpatient rehab center in 2003, the team works to maximize the abilities and independence of patients recovering from injury, illness or major surgery, including heart attacks, strokes, amputations and COPD.
“St. Mary’s is honored to be recognized again on Newsweek’s list of America’s Best Physical Rehabilitation Centers,” said Stonish Pierce, President and CEO of Trinity Health Georgia, which includes St. Mary’s. “Doing everything possible to help patients return to their home after a serious medical event is an important part of our mission to serve together as a compassionate and transforming healing presence within our communities."
“This award recognizes our commitment to coming together as an interdisciplinary team to best meet the needs of our patients,” said Program Director Rebecca Swick. “The conditions our patients experience can be devastating. We are proud that more than 88% of those we care for are able to return home to be with their loved ones.”
