Artist2Artist Presents “Monterey Pop Music Festival — Athens Style” to Benefit Athens Area Homeless Shelter

Athens, Georgia — September 14, 2026 — Artist2Artist is bringing the spirit of the
legendary Monterey Pop Music Festival to Athens with an unforgettable day of music,
art, and community on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Terrapin Beer Co. from 11:30
am - 7:00 pm.

The Artist2Artist Annual Fundraiser: Monterey Pop Music Festival — Athens Style
will celebrate the creative spirit that has long defined Athens while raising funds and
awareness for the Athens Area Homeless Shelter, supporting its mission to provide
housing, resources, and pathways toward stability for individuals and families
experiencing homelessness. Artist2Artist has always believed in a simple idea: Party
with a Purpose. Our immersive events bring together great music, local talent, and
community spirit while raising support for important needs right here in Athens.
Inspired by the groundbreaking 1967 Monterey Pop Festival, the Athens-style
celebration will bring together local musicians, artists, creatives, and community
members for an event centered around one simple idea: artists supporting artists and
a community supporting its neighbors. For this celebration of the 1967 Monterey
Pop Festival, attendees are encouraged to get into the spirit of the day and dress the
part — think bell bottoms, fringe, tie-dye, peace signs and plenty of 60s and 70s
flair!

A Day of Music, Art & Community

The event will feature live performances from Athens-area musicians, an atmosphere
inspired by the original Monterey festival, local art, and opportunities for attendees to
come together in support of an important local cause. Performing sets from the original
Monterey Pop Music Festival will be Gimme Hendrix (Jimi Hendrix Experience), Check
The Signs (Mamas & The Papas and Jefferson Airplane and The Association), Laura
Valentine (Janis Joplin), The Wraps (Steve Miller Band and The Byrds), Dire Wolf
(Grateful Dead), William Tonks and Neal Priest (Simon & Garfunkel), Classic City
Jukebox (The Who), Janet and the New Dogs (Paul Butterfield Blues Band), The
Original Splitz Band (Booker T & the MGs), and Elite Ellison aka Elite tha Showstoppa
(Otis Redding).

Known for its rich musical history and vibrant creative community, Athens provides the
perfect setting for a modern reinterpretation of Monterey Pop — one that celebrates the
artists who make this community special while giving back to the people who call
Athens home.

“Bringing the Monterey Pop spirit to Athens gives us a chance to celebrate our
incredible creative community while supporting the Athens Area Homeless
Shelter and the vital work they do every day.”

Supporting the Athens Area Homeless Shelter

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Athens Area Homeless Shelter, helping
support programs and services for people experiencing homelessness in the Athens
community.

The fundraiser reflects Artist2Artist’s commitment to using creative programming to
connect artists and audiences with meaningful community causes. The event is seeking
artist vendors and sponsors for the event.

In the effort of collaboration with the North Georgia Folk Festival, happening the same
day at Sandy Creek Park, both events will offer $5 off wristbands at the door for people
attending both events - just show your wristband for each event at both gates!
