Athens Chamber Announces New Special Events Coordinator

The Athens Area Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to announce that Meredith Lysaught will be joining our team as the new full-time Special Events Coordinator. Meredith brings a wealth of experience and a passion for community engagement to the role, where she will oversee the planning and execution of the Chamber’s events that contribute to our advocacy for community and championing whole-picture business growth.

Meredith is a graduate of the University of Georgia College of Public Health, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion and Behavior with a concentration in community-based public health. She has professional experience in program management and evaluation, most recently at the Athens Area Community Foundation, which positions her as a valuable addition to the Chamber team.

“We are so excited to welcome Meredith to the Chamber,” said Marissa Chastain, Vice President of Operations for the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce. “Her background along with her passion for Athens and its people, make her the ideal addition to our team. We look forward to seeing her creativity and innovation through our events."

Since moving to Athens in 2017, Meredith has made significant contributions to the local community. A proud graduate of the LEAD Athens Class of 2024, she remained engaged through service to the LEAD Athens Alumni Association among other community initiatives. Her collaborative spirit and enthusiasm for finding innovative ways to engage with the community align perfectly with the Chamber’s mission.
