Position Description: This position has direct responsibility for the effective, efficient, and sustainable financial operations of the organization. This position implements strategic direction for the organization’s growth within the financial area. This position is full-time with group health insurance and 3% match to a Simple IRA. Salary range is $50,000-$55,000.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Bookkeeping 

  • Oversee billing cycle, record revenue, verify expenses, and write checks accordingly. 

  • Prepare monthly/year to date financial reports for President and Executive Committee 

  • Administer the bi-weekly payroll  

  • Assist in the preparation of annual budget  

  • Implement process by which the Chamber’s financial records are annually reviewed by CPA firm 

  • Oversee the filing of all tax documents on a timely basis 

  • Oversee the effective utilization of petty cash 

  • Contract Oversight 

  • Currently, our Workforce Development arm, “Athens Achieves,” is operating, largely, from an ARPA grant offered through Athens-Clarke County Unified GovernmentThe Bookkeeper is responsible for collecting all receipts that can be directly tied to the Athens Achieves budget and seeking reimbursement from ACC Unified Government. 

  • We have 7 Sub-Grantees for whom we serve as the Grantor. The Bookkeeper will review the Sub-Grantees requests for reimbursement.  

  • If requests have gone through the accepted process for approval, the Bookkeeper will provide reimbursement funding to our Sub-Grantees. 

  • The Bookkeeper will work with our Grant Administration team to assure our Sub-Grantees paperwork is timely and accurate in an effort to expedite reimbursement. 

  • Membership Database 

  • Aid in the development and implementation of updated Retention Process 

  • Send membership renewal statements to all existing members no later than the 15th day of the month preceding their renewal date 

  • Develop and implement a process by which we effectively address accounts that are past 45 days outstanding 

  • Propose, on a monthly basis, businesses that should be dropped off the roles of current membership 

  • Maintain current account activity in membership database and financial software  

  • Record Keeping 

  • Maintain filing system of all Board and Organizational Governance material including personnel files and Board of Directors commitment forms 

  • Office Support 

  • Serve as the primary contact for all contracted services including but not limited to telephones, financial software, Chamber membership software, office supplies, IT/computer service, rent. 

  • Other 

  • Staff liaison to selected Chamber committees 

  • This person will have the opportunity to hire support staff as needed and upon the approval of the President 

  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications: 

  • Experience in bookkeeping or accounting 

  • Strong written and verbal communication  

  • Proficient in Sage and/or Quickbooks 

  • Positive energy and works well in collaborative environment 

  • Self-motivated with good time management skills 

Requirements: 

  • Valid Driver’s License  

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent field experience 

        3-5 years experience preferred
