The Athens Area Chamber of Commerce Public Policy Committee invites you to join us for a fireside chat with Georgia's Commissioner of Insurance, John King and D onegal Insurance Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Dan DeLamater.

John F. King was sworn in as Georgia's Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner by Governor Kemp in 2019, becoming the first Hispanic statewide official in state history. He was elected to a full four-year term in November 2022. A native of Mexico, King made a meaningful impact by building bridges among Doraville's diverse populations and implementing youth education and crime-prevention programs in his role as Chief of Police. Recognizing the international composition of Doraville's community, King made it a priority to hire bilingual police officers, place multiple languages on police cars, and ensure effective translators and public defenders were employed at the City Courthouse. Commissioner King's initiatives include Anti-Gang education programs for elementary school students and parents.

Dan DeLamater serves as the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at the Donegal Insurance Group, headquartered in Marietta PA. He is also President of Southern Mutual Insurance Company, a member of the Donegal Insurance Group, based in Athens, GA. Dan began his career with Southern Mutual on January 1st, 2000 - Y2K. He served in several roles before being named President in 2016. He has since been elected to the company's Board of Directors. The Donegal Insurance Group is a family of multi-line insurance companies underwriting more than $1 Billion of commercial lines and personal lines business in twenty-one states across the country. At Donegal, Dan is responsible for the organization's Marketing, Claims, Analytics, Legal, Human Resources, Investment, and Audit & Compliance functions. He is also responsible for the physical plant of the organization which includes nearly 300,000 square feet of real estate in four regional campuses.
