Description

You're invited to learn how to make a difference for our community's vulnerable children! There are current 274 children in foster care in Clarke and Oconee County. Now more than ever we need community members to step up and act as a voice for these children.

Please join us for a virtual info session where we will discuss what CASA is and how it makes a difference in our community. We will meet at 12:30 PM and 5:30 PM. The info session should last about an hour.

A Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) is a trained community volunteer who is appointed by a judge to advocate for the best interests of an abused or neglected child who is in foster care. The CASA volunteer gathers information about the child's situation, attends court proceedings and makes a written recommendation to the judge so that the judge has the information to make a decision about the child's future.

Our next CASA training class will begin September 9th and go until October 14th. During that time we meet once a week on Thursdays in the morning (10 am-1:30 pm) and in the evening (5:30 pm-9 pm). Training location to be determined. Our graduation/swearing in ceremony with be on October 19th at 5:30 pm. We invite anyone interested in learning more about our program to attend the virtual information session July 7th at 12:30 pm and 5:30 pm
