J.Tom Morgan, former District Attorney of DeKalb County and UGA graduate (BBA '77 and JD '80), will discuss his new book, A Rainy Night in Georgia, which will be released by Prometheus/Simon & Schuster on September 15. This book is about the shocking assassination of Sheriff-elect Derwin Brown in his driveway just days before he was to take office and J.Tom's prosecution of the case. The book is part true-crime thriller, part courtroom story, part memoir, and a reflection on the risks and responsibilities of pursuing justice when the stakes are everything. The themes in the story remain relevant today.
