DESCRIPTION:The Beacon of Hope Gala is Athens-Oconee CASA?s signature fundraising event\, taking place Friday\, September 11th\, at Athens Country Club. This inspiring evening brings together members of the Athens-Clarke and Oconee County communities to raise critical funds and awareness in support of our mission. At the heart of our work are CASA volunteers ? dedicated individuals whom we recruit\, train\, and support to advocate for the best interests of children in foster care. These volunteers serve as a consistent\, caring presence in a child?s life and work to ensure their voices are heard by the court and throughout their journey in the foster care system.\n\nGuests at the Gala will enjoy a Silent Auction\, a lively Dessert Dash\, and the opportunity to make a lasting impact in the lives of vulnerable children. The evening serves as a powerful celebration of community commitment ? a gathering of local champions united in the mission to be a voice of hope for every child who needs one.\n\nWho we are: \n\nAthens Oconee CASA is a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit organization based in Athens\, Ga. dedicated to improving the lives of children in foster care in Clarke and Oconee Counties. We work within the community with the Division of Family and Children Services\, the juvenile judicial system\, educational professionals\, and service providers to ensure healthy outcomes for children experiencing foster care. CASA volunteers are specially trained adults appointed by the court to improve a child?s foster care experience. These trained volunteers work to promote safe and stable homes for children in times of family crisis. By advocating for children who have experienced abuse or neglect\, our volunteers amplify each child's voice and help change a child's story.
