Description
The UGA President’s House on Prince Avenue has been many things since it was built in 1856: a private residence, a gathering space, and for the past 75 years, the home of the university’s president. It's one of the few buildings in Athens tied so directly to institutional decision-making, and right now, it’s at the center of a conversation about what preservation means when a landmark shifts out of use. Led by Joe Smith, Jeff Payne, and Steven & Beth Brown, this session will bring together neighbors, historians, and preservationists to talk about the legacy of the house and what might come next. Join us to learn more at our upcoming History Hour with Historic Athens One Story, a free monthly education program. Each month's History Hour is at the Lyndon House Arts Center, every 1st Tuesday of the month. Complimentary lunch from Rashe's Cuisine is provided on a first come, first serve basis with vegan options available. This event is free and open to the public
